The crowd gathered early. Lunch baskets were everywhere in evidence as the families drove in from their homes in the verdant hills and the pretty vales that line Capay valley. Following out the announced program for the day, tree-planting was the order during the morning and early afternoon. The new park was further beautified by the planting of an abundance of new trees of every arboreal family.

After the tree-planting, there was a baseball game between the Esparto and Winters teams. The informal program of speech making included Supervisor M. H. Stitt, G. H. Hecke, H. S. Maddox, Dr. M. O. Wyatt, president of the Bank of Esparto, and other boosters. A dance tonight in the “new Community Hall” concluded the day’s festivities.
